Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to force a third set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
